WELCOME TO GARNER ARTS CENTER EXPLORE – ENGAGE - ENJOY

Dear Friends: Thank you for joining us for the 2nd year return of Hudson Valley Maker Faire at GARNER Arts Center! Everything you LOVED about GARNER Arts Festival but with STEM and STEAM! In addition to visual and performing artists, we are so pleased to welcome tech enthusiasts, tinkerers and hobbyists. VISIT our two Maker Halls, sponsored this year by PKF O’Connor Davies and Calyx, to see demonstrations of all kinds, including VR/Robotics stations. CHECK OUT the Gallery at building 35 to EXPERIENCE the Lure of the Rails by Ken Karlewicz, where you can enjoy a model train layout, train photography and an immersive video and sound installation. If you’re interested in HISTORY, be sure to stop by the Visitors Center located in building 35 off the Ned Harris Gallery for a video about the textile mill that once flourished here. Be sure to walk BEHIND the Gallery for Kris Cambell’s sculptural installa tion LAND+MARKS . DROP BY the Veolia Kids’ STEM Corner and the Student Art Activities sponsored by M&T Bank, such as the High School Student Art Show in building 24. ENJOY the sound and light installation in Building 1 Studio A by John Morton and Jo Yarrington and DON’T MISS visiting the 25 Open Artist Studios located throughout the GARNER Historic District to see our talented artists and artisans in their studios! Take a WALK through the Creekside Sculpture Trail to see the sculptural installations The Web and The Nest by world-renowned sculptor Cristina Biaggi and participate in environmental arts projects Creekside led by Strawtown Studio. OBSERVE the many other outdoor sculptures we have at Creekside and throughout the Historic District! CHECK OUT building 5 2nd fl. (sorry, it’s not ADA accessible) for Kris Burns’s installation The Last House in Brooklyn , including screenings and readings throughout the day. Also in building 5, VIEW the art, music and fashion show by the GARNER Incubator Group , and selected works for sale from the incomparable Jonathan Demme’s collection of Haitian and African American art. On the Stage@ Dye Works Square, ENJOY musical acts, a Fashion Show by Hope Wade and Chiku Awali African Dance. Also at Dye Works Square, you can sample a variety of Food and purchase Craft Beverag es at our Beverage Garden, featuring brews from onsite sponsor Round Table Brewery and wines from Warwick Valley Winery. (And don’t forget to visit the Coffee Bar featuring coffee from onsite Stack Street Coffee in the Building 1 Maker Hall! LAST BUT NOT LEAST, WATCH for impromptu tango lessons, an Art Scavenger Hunt, face painting, performance art, live music and more! For Questions and Assistance, stop by the Info Booth at Dye Works Square (near the tent). While GARNER Arts Center’s Gallery at building 35 has now been open for a full year, there is more to do! Including the creation of a new accessible secondary exit, the development of a rear Sculpture Gar den, storm windows, exterior signage and lighting to name a few projects on the punch list.
