KRIS CAMPBELL LAND+MARKS
“Crafting a portrait with sculpted tiles embedded into the soil, I bring forth an image derived from a grayscale representation. Inspired by the art of cross stitch, I embark on creating a portrait (its subject yet to be determined) using techniques reminiscent of this traditional craft. The expansive ground serves as the backdrop for this endeavor. The tiles, resembling segmented displays akin to digital clocks, are strategically placed to emulate the intricate patterns of cross-stitching.” Artist, Kris Campbell

ABOUT LAST HOUSE IN BROOKLYN
ABOUT THE LAST HOUSE IN BROOKLYN Can we be known by the things we keep?
Can they speak for us after we’re gone-What would they say? 15 years ago, artist Kris Burns wound up with a collection of mystery boxes from a family home in Flatbush. When she went through them, she realized she had the story of her family all wrong and had to begin a new one for herself. Her multimedia installation invites you to explore this col lection amidst the wonders of the Frank Welles Gallery and consider the mystery of the things we leave behind. The Book of Revelation , Everald Brown
GARNER Arts Center is proud to once again present JONATHAN DEMME: Collecting with Abandon . The exhibition features works from this extraordinary collection of Haitian, Island and Outsider art. Originally on view in Building 35. Remounted in GARNER’s Frank Welles Studio gallery. Jonathan’s introduction to Haitian art was through a small storefront gallery on the upper west side of Manhattan in the mid ‘80’s. His love of the art led him to making his first of countless trips to Haiti in 1986. In addition to the art, he fell in love with the country. He made several documentaries in Haiti, most notably a film on activist and radio journal ist, Jean Dominique entitled “The Agronomist”. -Joanne Howard
